Contentious Starts and Sits: Week 14

This is our take on take on starts and sits. We aren’t going to tell you to start you stud RB against some awful defense, but we might convince you your WR3 is going to play like a WR1. We also will be updating the post throughout the week as this data gets stale, fast.

A = Awful Announcing, B = B, and G = Guido

Quarterbacks
A B G Player OPP
Kyle Orton IND
G: I don’t think I’ve picked his as a start all year, but I think this could be a high scoring game.
Kurt Warner SFO
G: I feel like he may have slipped off the map the last few weeks with all the concussion talk, but his performance against the Vikings seem to indicate the cobwebs have cleared.A: He’s knocking you out in round one of the FFL Playoffs, Guido!
Brett Favre CIN
G:I’m sensing another mediocre performance, no supporting facts, just a feeling. B: Favre was off and threw two picks last week, but thats an anomaly. Stick with him.
Donovan McNabb NYG
G:Giants defense didn’t play great against the Cowboys, but they have the feel of getting things together.B: McNabb has struggled in the Redzone and thats starting to show in his numbers.
David Garrard MIA
A: I still like Miami’s D for some reason. They’re giving up points, but a win against the Pats will give them.
Running Backs
A B G Player OPP
Jonathan Stewart NE
G:If you have DeAngelo and he is out again this week, Stewart is a no brainer start even against the Pats.A:He’s a machine when Williams is out.
Julius Jones HOU
G: Appears healthy and should have good stats against the Texans.B: He has had a miserable year and now has Forsett stealing carries. He would be iffy if he wasn’t splitting carries!
LaDainian Tomlinson DAL
G: Cowboys playing for a lot and their run defense is usually pretty good. B: He only averaged 3.2 yards against CLE. I think he is a sit in Dallas.
Joseph Addai DEN
G:He has put up some decent numbers, but Denver’s defense should keep him in check this week.B: Addai is a redzone machine in a high scoring offense. Unless you have a great matchup with someone else, start him.
Jamaal Charles BUF
A: Picking up a TD a game B: He is a good start against BUF.
Willis McGahee DET
A: Getting all the goal line carries, and is up against Detroit. Good spot starter.
Cadillac Williams NYJ
A:The Jets D is going to do everything with Kellen Clemens at the helm.
Marion Barber SD
A: Doesn’t seem to be the same player he was at the start of the season.
Matt Forte GB
B: Cutler will struggle and Forte will struggle. Sit everyone on CHI actually.
Quinton Ganther OAK
B: Ganther has been named the starter. This is a risky play, but if the Skins went to the effort of naming him starter its going to mean a commitment … and you couldn’t have a better matchup as a first start. Oakland is giviing up around 150 yards on the ground.
Wide Receivers
A B G Player OPP
Terrell Owens KC
G: I’m pretty sure I haven’t picked him as start this year either, but unless there is a blizzard in Kansas City, TO should pad his stats against the Chiefs.
Mike Wallace CLE
B: With Ward out Wallace should have good day.
Devin Thomas OAK
B: Look for Devin Thomas to try to build off of his recent performances. Moss should be locked down by Nnamdi Asomugha, giving Campbell fewer options.
Kenny Britt STL
G: Against the Rams, Britt should continue his TD streak. Might be a good start if you have some holes in your lineup.
Greg Jennings CHI
G: I’d sit him if I had an alternative. He has been VERY inconsistent this year.
Braylon Edwards TB
G: Good thing horrible drops don’t count for negative points. I’m not sure he is worthy of a sit, but he definitely isn’t worthy of a start.
Anquan Boldin TB
A: Warner is finally realizing he’s still on the team.B: He is finally getting the redzone looks that he got last year.
Tight Ends
A B G Player OPP
Bo Scaife STL
B: Had him as a start last week and he put up 56 yards and a TD. Expect the redzone love to continue where I see Young connecting at least twice in the endzone. Scaife should be one of those connections
Jermichael Finley CHI
B: 17 receptions (and 24 targets) in the last three games and scored twice last week. Hopefully this trend continues in the windy city. If you need a lot of output this week and you haven’t been getting much from an TE like Shockey you might want to take a chance on Finley. A lot of upside in a pass happy offense.
Jeremy Shockey ATL
B: Shockey has seen a steady number of looks, but he has gone 7 games without a TD. The rest of the high powered Saints offense has jelled and Shockey has taken a back seat. If all you need is 4-6 FPs start him.
Defenses
A B G Player OPP
Washington Defense OAK
A:Up against Brad Gradkowski…..Brad Gradkowski.
Cinncinati Defense MIN
A:Minnesota will be looking for blood this weekend after getting whupped by AZ
Arizona Defense TB
G:They might be a start for me the rest of the way, so I am throwing them out their this week for the record to see it pans out.
Pittsburgh Defense CLE
G:Oakland hung some points on them last week and no Troy Polomalu is bad news.
