Week 9 Standout Performance

Each week we’ll take a look at either a star who stepped up big time for his team or a surprise performance from a guy who isn’t owned in many leagues. If you think someone else deserves some praise, let us know.

Top Performer

Kurt Warner
22/31, 261 YDS, 5 TD

Even though he’s had a decent season on the overall, Warner has really let his owners down the last couple of weeks. In his previous two games, he threw 6 picks with only three touchdowns. That was enough for a lot of owners to drop him to the bench or off their teams entirely.

Well, he definitely made up for those games this week. In Sunday’s 41-21 win over the Bears, Warner was just dominant. It definitely helps that he has a guy like Larry Fitzgerald to throw to, but when a guy throws 5 touchdowns with no picks, it usually means he was in the zone. With the Cards facing the Seahawks, Rams and Titans the next three weeks, I’m expecting Warner to continue to move on up the ranks.

Other Notable Performances

Chris Johnson
25 CAR, 135 YDS, 2 TD

Johnson had another nice day on the ground after his 228 yard performance last week. A lot of people thought it would be a gamble taking him early in the draft, but it sure is paying off now, isn’t it?

Mike Sims-Walker
6 REC, 147 YDS, 1 TD

A lot of young receivers step up and have big games early in the season, but then they fade off when teams take notice. Anyone who picked up Sims-Walker up around Week 4 now officially have a reliable receiver on their team. It’s nice when that happens.

Jay Cutler
29/47, 369 YDS, 3 TD, 1 INT

After a couple of sub-par performances against the Browns and Bengals, Cutler stepped up and had a very nice game against the Cardinals despite being rushed from all angles the entire game. It may have been in a losing effort, but he’s showing that he has the potential to be a top-notch QB. He just needs to be a little more consistent.

Michael Turner
18 CAR, 166 YDS, 2 TD

Turner has now scored in seven consecutive games. He’s also rushed for over 150 yards the last two weeks. I can’t believe people were saying this guy wasn’t worthy of a top 5 pick.
