Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens
Carson Palmer engineered an eighty yard drive to win the game, which was capped by a 20 yard touchdown pass to Andre Caldwell. The real standout for the Bengals was Cedric Benson who finished with 120 yards rushing including a 28 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
The star for the Ravens was Ray Rice who gained 143 total yards. He had an amazing 48 yard catch and run for a touchdown that would have been the game winner without Palmer’s late game heroics.
Joe Flacco struggled for the second straight week in a row, but remains a solid start.
Washington Redskins at Carolina Panthers
Normally I would lament having to watch the Redskins and their horrible offense. Though to be fair, lots of teams have horrible offenses as evidenced this week.
So rather than kill the Redskins again, I’ll focus on Clinton Portis and his two touchdown effort. His best days are behind him, but he plays as hard as anybody.
For the Panthers, Jake Delhomme was bad again, but at this point no one’s actually starting him so who cares how bad he is. DeAngelo Williams was held in check with only forty yards rushing and another nineteen receiving. Jonathan Stewart did have a touchdown but only had 39 yards rushing and six receiving.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Philadelphia Eagles
Kellen Winslow continues to put together a decent fantasy year. He had two touchdowns and 102 yards receiving. In his first five games Winslow has four touchdowns.
Donovan McNabb looked great in his return. He went 16-21 with three touchdowns and 264 yards passing.
Rookie wideout Jeremy Maclin had a break out game with two touchdowns and 142 yards receiving.
Oakland Raiders at New York Giants
Oakland was absolutely dismantled by the Giants. Oakland gave up six sacks and lost three fumbles (all by JaMarcus Russell).
Eli Manning was pulled in the second quarter because the game was already so lopsided.
Ahmad Bradshaw gained 110 yards rushing and fifty five yards receiving on one catch. He also scored two touchdowns.
Hakeem Nicks caught a touchdown for the second straight week since his return.
Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams
Adrian Peterson rushed for two touchdowns giving him seven in his first five games.
One of last year’s fantasy surprises, Donnie Avery had his best game of the year with 87 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Dallas Cowboys at Kansas City Chiefs
Tony Romo had a good fantasy day when it was all said and done thanks to Miles Austin. Austin bailed Romo and the Cowboys out of what would have been a bad loss by scoring on a 60 yard touchdown catch in overtime. He also had a 59 yard touchdown reception and finished with 250 yards receiving.
Matt Cassell had 253 yards passing and two touchdowns. I guess he isn’t a bad start in a deep league or if you are desperate, but the Chiefs can’t do anything on offense on any consistent basis.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Detroit Lions
The Steelers were never in any real danger of losing this game despite the final score. Ben Roethlisberger put together a good game against a weak Lions defense. He had three touchdowns and 277 yards passing.
Calvin Johnson was hurt early in the game with a leg injury and did not return. He may not have done much this year, but he would still be a tough spot to fill on your roster. Pay close attention to his health and watch the waiver wires for a possible replacement player.
Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills
This game was a real barn burner in that it made me want to burn down a barn.
To give a good sense of the ineptitude of these two teams, Derek Anderson had two completions and twenty three yards passing and the Browns still won.
