Daunte Culpepper figured to give the Lions the best chance to win early and get off the 0-16 schneid. Instead, the Lions coaching staff saw fit to name the true rookie,Matt Stafford, as the starter today. As a Calvin Johnson owner, this was my biggest fear. But, after I heard the news today, I had a change of heart.
The one thing I’ve heard about Stafford since his days at Georgia is that he has a NFL arm. If that is the case, then maybe Stafford is a good thing for Johnson. He may be the Lions only legitimate threat at wide receiver, but he proved last year through injuries and the worst team record in the history of the NFL, that he can still produce solid numbers.
Between Stafford’s arm strength and Johnson’s size and speed, the Lions shouldn’t be afraid to go deep.
