Steven Jackson wants you to draft to him:
… or think he’s good? I don’t quite understand why a player produces a movie about himself, but I know I am going to watch it. I would love to say he should be spending more time strengthening up to stay healthy (missed 4 games in each of the last two seasons), but he seems to be doing that:
In past offseasons, Jackson said he worked mainly on conditioning — as he put it, “making sure that my lungs are strong.”
This offseason, he worked on making his body strong by spending more time in the weight room. The more aggressive approach to weight training might make Jackson better equipped to handle hits over the long haul
That’s impressive talk, but its also something we hear every year from players coming off of injuries, and it rarely signals a new found invisibility. Besides, the real issue facing Jackson this year is the Rams and Bulger. When Bulger threw for 4,301 yards and 28 touchdowns, Jackson had the best year of his career touching the ball 436 times for 2334 total yards and 16 TDs. But those days are long gone. Last year Bulger threw more interceptions than touchdowns and of all the receivers looking for starts in St Louis this year, not a one of them put up more than 3 TDs. Without a passing game its: Steven Jackson versus 11 other guys. Those aren’t good odds when trying to increase your yards per carry or to keep yourself in all 16 games.
Spagnuolo has promised to commit to the run this year, but committing to the run doesn’t keep you in a job, winning games does. I’m going to watch the new Steven Jackson movie for sure, and I’m sure its going to make me feel like he’s the “Man” again (he really is a supernatural talent), but what I would really like to see is a movie called “The Rams: We Won’t Stink This Year”.
