I have been a little more hot on Slaton than the other editor’s here, but I have just cooled off. Chris Brown is poised to become the LenDale white of the Texans and it appears that just might happen. In the preseason opener against the Chiefs, Brown scored the only touchdown of the night with a 2 yard “smash”.
"I think it made the whole team feel very good," coach Gary Kubiak said of Brown's performance against the Chiefs.
Brown has 20 lbs and 6 inches on Slaton. Though he sat out most of Slaton’s break out season with injuries and is much older, he feels he can help the team in the redzone.
"I feel like I can do that," Brown said. "I can go out there and get the job done, especially in the red zone. We've got two totally different styles and I think we complement each other very well."
Sound familiar? Whereas you know Chris Johnson is going to take in a lot of plays from 25 yards out, you have to be concerned where Slaton is going to get his TDs from if Chris Brown succeeds. Keep and eye on the preseason and see if this trend continues.
