QB Rankings: Now With More Favre

r3971424898My fantasy football philosophy has evolved over the last 10 years. The one thing I am certain of at this point is that I am as much a fantasy football expert as the next guy, including Matthew Berry. On ESPN tonight, Berry said he didn’t think Favre was worthy of a starting position on a fantasy squad. I thought as I often do: “I’m as much a fantasy football expert as that guy!”

So, here is the short list of QBs I’d rather have than number four.

1) Tom Brady: It’s early and he already looks like the Brady of 2007.

2)Drew Brees: 5,000 yards is ridiculous, so don’t expect a repeat performance, but all the Saints do is throw and they are always behind. He is easily the safest pick of the draft at the quarterback position.

3)Peyton Manning: Manning started slow last year coming off the injury, but still passed for over 4,000 yards and 27 TDs.

4)Kurt Warner: Best receivers in the game, a wide open offense, experience and a weak division.

5) Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers has as much upside as anyone at the position this year.

6)Tony Romo: An amazingly deep running attack and no Terrell Owens or Jessica Simpson should mean less scrutiny and a more focused Romo.

7)Donvan McNabb: If you have your doubts about McNabb, he threw four fewer touchdowns and 86 yards less than Peyton last year.

8)Phillips Rivers: Rivers blew up last year. In the two years prior to 2008, he did not throw more than 22 TDs or more than 3,400 yards. I don’t think it was a total fluke, but temper your expectations.

9)Carson Palmer: Coming off an injury shortened season, Palmer should return to his 2006-2007 form.

10)Matt Ryan: I felt obligated to put Ryan ahead of Favre here. He has an extra year in the offense, so his numbers will certainly improve and he is less mistake prone.

11)Brett Favre: Ta-dah! Clocking in just outside of the top ten is Old Gray Beard. Rather than focus on the guys above him, think about who is left that you would rather have than Favre. Cutler? Hasslebeck? Eli? Cassell?

"New York Jets QB Brett Favre looks shot. At 39, it is very
possible Favre is wearing down near the end of the season.
He attempted to hit WR Jerricho Cotchery deep during
Week 15, but he couldn't get the ball to him and it was
    intercepted. "Maybe I don't have the arm I once had. I don't
know," Favre said after the game." .... I think that says it all.
